This page is my account of our final build it project.

For our project I was assigned to be one of the architects. Prior to this project I had done very little building with even less success so I thought that being an architect would essentially force me to become a better builder as well as present a challenge to me along the way. This project has definitely made me a better builder because I have learned about all of the intricate details with regards to building. For instance I had no idea how to create a window but it was seemingly through an accident that I had created a window, and since that point I decided to implement the use of windows in our building, at the top floor to create a modern and classic look.

A claim that I feel comfortable making about SL to this point is that as SL becomes more realistic, the potential for addiction will be greater.  The picture that I chose for the build it project is a picture of the Second Life Therapeutic Community. The first observation that I made is that it is rather ironic that there is an addiction center for Second Life and other activities The fact that there is such a center in an virtual world seems somewhat counter intuitive.  A second observation  that can be made is that the building looks very realistic to something along the lines of a modern day 5 star hotel. The third observation from this picture that can be made is that there is already a potential for addiction or that users will become more addicted. Observation 4 is that there is enough potential for addiction that there was the need for a center to help combat the addiction. Observation 5 is that SL is becoming a less expensive medium for recovering addicts to seek therapy for other addictions such as narcotics and alcohol. The 6th observation was that the SLTC looks very exclusive or that it caters to a wealthier group of avatars. Observation 7 is that it appears to look like a spa rather than a conventional treatment center for addiction. The 8th observation that I made was that the building looks as real as possible, almost like the Parthenon of Ancient Greece to give somewhat of a healing quality. The 9th part I noticed although not visible within the picture, there were red text lines that said "no entry" which made it seem very exclusive. The final thing that I observed was that there were no avatars or even a bot within the building and as I tried to open the door, a text message appeared saying "You do not have permission to enter".  Ultimately this supports my claim that addiction to SL and virtual worlds is on the rise and that is primarily because the real world and virtual world are becoming more and more similar to the point where we may not be able to discern the two.
